GDCC Defends 2013 Mich-CA Cup Title

Greater Detroit Cricket Club (GDCC) successfully defended their F40 MichCA Cup by beating Canton Cricket Club (CACC) by 79 runs.

Final turned out to be one of the best shows of swing bowling in the history of Mich-CA. GDCC was on the back foot after losing 5 wickets for 34 runs. Rohan Uttarwar of CACC swung the ball beautifully and claimed 4 wickets for 12 runs in 7 overs. GDCC managed to score 96 runs and got bowled out in 33 overs. Faisal Sultan, old guard of GDCC, top scored with 39 runs.

CACC looked to have won half of the battle even before starting the chase. GDCC needed a special team effort to pull off a miracle and make a game out of it. Maqsood Hussain took the message to heart and produced one of the best spells of the history of Mich-CA. Maqsood ripped apart Canton’s batting line up by picking up seven wickets in 5.2 overs. Canton got bowled out in just 11.2 overs for 17 runs. Maqsood ended the game with following stat line

Overs Maidens Runs Wickets
5.2 3 4 7

Mich-CA congratulates GDCC on winning their 10th Mich-CA Cup (F40) Title and commiserates with CACC on a tough loss.

  1. Wow Happy to be part of this Legacy…Maqsood was vicious and deadly….after 4 overs of his spell his figures read 4overs/3maidens/1 run/4 wickets…amazing never in my 28 years of playing cricket I have seen anything on the field or on tv…..words cant explain this….

  2. Awesome show Maqsood!
Congratulations to GDCC! You deserve to be the champions for your great commitment and methodological application.
